The Call for Entrepreneurship
Why investing in yourself and your beliefs is not a risk…
I started this year with an inspiring trip to New York that has brought me back with new insights around entrepreneurship. Listening to entrepreneurs and investors has inspired me to share this with you.
Unfortunately, there are many misconceptions about entrepreneurship. One of the biggest misconceptions is that “entrepreneurs are risk-takers”. In society, entrepreneurship is viewed as a risky endeavor. But what if I told you that the biggest risk in our society is to do nothing and waiting for change to come? Maybe taking the nine-to-five job, no continuous learning, and not challenging yourself is the biggest risk to not fulfill your mission and live a happy life. For me, it feels like living a life where you are not the captain of your own ship. So what is entrepreneurship?
Entrepreneurs pursuit their vision and mission and are backing them by real action. They only do what they firmly believe in. It has nothing to do with gambling — but rather following a worthy belief — a completely new world-view.
Real entrepreneurs don’t think that they are taking risks but rather they are following what they feel is the only right thing to do. They do it because they want to secure their future and the future of their employees. They want to create the future and not be influenced by chance.
Real entrepreneurs try to correct something that they feel is wrong. They want to enable their vision to work out in the real world. Getting there might feel sometimes messy but it eventually is the only right thing to do.
Many feel that they are not ready to be an entrepreneur. That they lack the experience. They try to gain experience in marketing, sales, and product design. They study different fields. When the only way to learn about entrepreneurship is being an entrepreneur. The question where do you see yourself in 5–10 years makes no sense at all. You either start now or newer. When will you have the time to scale your business successfully…
So why wait?
If you have a strong feeling to change the world, start now.
You won’t regret it.
